My passion for the earth and plants started when I was merely a toddler, as I would help my parents in our garden. It was a way to be together and work for a common goal, to enhance our outdoor environment.
As an adult, working in and enhancing our outdoor living space was again a wonderful opportunity which I was able to take one step further. I designed the space, using both hardscape and landscape, while utilizing all the resources I was able to muster.
In the beginning I read every book I was able to get my hands on. Practical learning was my next step, I worked at our local nursery, Whitings, during the spring season for eight years, each day learning at least one, if not many, horticultural facts and fallacies.
My interest continued to peak, and the idea of researching everything related to the plant world fascinated me. I enrolled in the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program. One of the classes focused on design, where a local landscape architect was the speaker and she totally captured me...I then enrolled in Garden Design classes through the University of California Extension.
The rest is history, as I designed my first garden as an assignment. To this day it is magnificent, and the clients are very happy.
